Sarah “Mallie” Alford, from Luverne High School, received the 2012 Electric Cooperative Foundation Scholarship from South Alabama Electric Cooperative. The Foundation was created by the rural electric cooperatives of Alabama in 1997 so that we could give back to the communities we serve by providing scholarships to deserving students located in our service territories.

“We’re excited to be able to provide educational assistance to such a deserving student,” Max Davis, general manager of SAEC said. “We are helping the future of our community. We wish her the best of luck as she continues her educational pursuits.”
She is the daughter of Chuck and Tammy Alford of Luverne.
Mallie has been busy while enrolled at Luverne High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, served as the Distinguished Young Woman of Crenshaw County, was editor of the school yearbook, and was a student government representative in 9th - 11th grade.
